Abstract

Bis(2-silоlyl)tetramethyldisilоxane has been obtained by an attempted Wurtz-type coupling of (2-silolyl)dimethylsilyl chloride using sodium metal and its linear Si—O—Si geometry has been demonstrated by X-ray crystallography.
